I will do my utmost best to lead the group and am looking forward to a wonderful year ahead.

Ramesh Chugani

President

Origins of TEG & YEG

Established in November 1963 by the Late Mr K Sital, Mr Bob Harilela & Mr Larry Parmanand, The Executive Group (“TEG”) is one of the oldest social group of Hong Kong based Indians. A fun fact is that when the group was started it was called YEG.

The original charter members were, Mr Bob Harilela, Mr Larry Parmanand, Mr Gary Harilela, Mr Sham Hemandas, Late Mr K Sital, Late Mr Bhagwan Motwani, Late Mr Harry Kima, Late Mr Lachu Melwani. Subsequently Mr Kishin Pamani and Mr Lal Malani joined. TEG’s vision is derived from these gentlemen whose wisdom and foresight steers the group into the future.

In 1988 YEG decided to expand and opened YEG on Hong Kong Island. Mr K Sital was requested to set up the new group as Charter President. In 1995, YEG (as our group was known then), decided to change the name of the group to TEG (The Executive Group) to better reflect members represented in the group and the rest is history.

What TEG is about

The aim of the Group is to foster friendship and build relations, whilst having a good time. We have members from all walks of life – finance, insurance, banking, jewelry, the mail order industry, manufacturing, import-export, bespoke suiting, craftsmen etc.

The Group also welcomes women as members. The Group tradition has been to have monthly lunches on the first Wednesday of each month. At these lunches we present a guest speaker which is are carefully selected to cover subjects of interest to our members which range from finance to health and good living to Feng Shui and much more.

Upon requests from our members, we also do informal, laid back Saturday lunches where members can unwind and enjoy the extended lunch timing.

The highlight of year in the recent past has been an out of Hong Kong experience. TEG had their first overseas trip in 1997 to Kuala Lumpur with spouses. In recent years, TEG members and spouses have gone overseas to cities such as Cebu, Bangkok, Macau, Pattaya and Manila.

The Group celebrated its 50th anniversary with a grand black-tie affair at the Galaxy Hotel in Macau in Dec 2013.

TEG DNA

TEG has no political ties and is totally a non-profit organization. Our loyalty is to our members and the community.

TEG prides itself in transparency. Members are encouraged to ask questions about the group including its operations and accounts. It is an open book for all members and we welcome member’s participation. To facilitate this, we have two lunches a year which are closed door lunches (no guest speakers and guests). At these lunches members may ask any questions they wish to and also get to see the group accounts.

2020 President, Mr Ramesh Chugani will steer the group into another successful year. With the guidance of senior advisors Mr Larry Parmanand and Mr Gary Harilela, members could not be in better hands.
